“I am having a change of heart and am considering doing (bris) it the traditional way in my home”

An email from a brave mom!
This is an email we received recently from a brave Los Angeles mom who decided to do the right thing for her baby at the end and to get a kosher bris.

Our heart really deep down always knows the truth

Good Morning Dr. Nourparvar,I found your contact information online and I am hoping you could answer some questions for me at your earliest convenience.

I gave birth to my son on — and had initially planned on doing a non traditional Bris at my OBs office as she is certified and we were going to recite the blessings to make it “official”. This was to take place today.

I am having a change of heart and am considering doing it the traditional way in my home in —–.

I realize we are past the 8 days. I did not know we could perform this on a Saturday and the office was closed also. I was advised too that as long as it’s past 8 days it’s also ok.

First question, is it too late to do this for tomorrow to allow for some notice to close family members? Is this something you would do as I know everyone has different policies.

If so, Would you be available for Tuesday?

Also what is the cost as this is a factor for me. Doing it thru my doctor, my insurance was covering this.

If you would be so kind as to please advise at your earliest convenience so that I could make a decision.

Thank you in advance and I appreciate your time on such short notice.

I look forward to hearing from you.

It is important to use some one who is qualified and that would be able to do a kosher bris according to our traditions.  There are many stories of babies getting a “bris” that was later found not kosher & end up having a revision.  Some of these children were from families who were not observant but their children grew up and become more observant.

In terms of payment, we could submit a bill to your insurance and wait for them to pay for the procedure so you wouldn’t have to pay anything out of pocket.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for any questions If I could be any help to you.
